Recovery in Hamilton, ON: Massage, Stretch Therapy and Red Light

Xelf Fitness Coaching Team

Why Recovery Is Part Of The Training

It is easy to think of recovery as optional — something you add later, once training is going well. In practice, recovery is what lets training keep going well. How you feel between sessions, not just during them, is what decides whether you keep showing up. At our gym in downtown Hamilton, Ontario, we treat massage therapy, fascial stretch therapy and red light therapy as part of the same plan as your training, not an extra you bolt on afterward.

Registered Massage Therapy

Our registered massage therapy is delivered by registered massage therapists with a customized treatment plan built around what your body actually needs, and it is covered by most health benefit providers. It is a good fit whenever you are carrying tension from training, from your daily posture, or from both at once.

Fascial Stretch Therapy

Fascial Stretch Therapy is table-based and assisted, which means you do not have to do the work of stretching yourself. You lie on a table, breathe, and let a trainer move you through a stretching system built for flexibility, mobility and pain relief. It is a different kind of recovery from massage — less about working out tension in the muscle and more about restoring range of motion so movement feels easier.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy sessions run 10 to 15 minutes and are recommended three to four times per week for anyone using it as a regular recovery tool. It is the lowest-effort option on this list — you show up, sit or lie under the panel for a short session, and go about your day.

Recovery does not have to be complicated to be worth doing consistently.

Building A Recovery Week That Fits Your Gym Membership

If you already train with us, layering recovery in is simple because our 24/7 gym membership gives you access every day of the year, with showers on site (bring your own towel), and no contract required on monthly plans. That means you can pair a training session with a quick red light therapy session, or come in on a separate day just for massage or stretch therapy, without working around a rigid schedule.

  • Training day: strength session, then a short red light therapy session if your schedule allows
  • Recovery day: massage therapy or Fascial Stretch Therapy on its own, no training required
  • Every day: 24/7 access, showers on site (bring your own towel), no contract on monthly membership plans

There is no single right way to build a recovery week. The right combination is whichever one you will actually keep up with. If you are still deciding between training formats before you even get to recovery, our post on semi-private versus 1-on-1 training is a good place to start, and if you are brand new to the studio altogether, How to Start Strength Training in Hamilton, ON When You've Never Lifted Before walks through your first twelve weeks.
